Access

FLT Tattoo has moved to a new address that is more accessible to those with mobility requirements. Specifics of the premises have now been updated below.

For other access enquires please fill out a contact form, or email me at [email protected]

I have tattooed people who use wheelchairs and mobility aids, ranging from walking frames or sticks, compact sports chairs, as well as larger motorised chairs. Many of my clients live with EDS, chronic pain, PTSD, and other conditions that factor into their experience of getting tattooed. I feel comfortable working with clients with a range of disabilities, health conditions, neurodivergences and/or access needs.

My space:

The shop is on the ground floor.

I am in a large open space with up to three other tattooers.

Covid safety

I tattoo with a high quality respirator style mask to reduce risk of viral transmission during our appointment. We have complimentary KN95 masks available for you to wear if you wish to do so while you are in the studio.
The other tattooers in the space do not work masked but are happy to do so on days when that is needed for your safety. If you would rather that is arranged before your arrival, feel free to put it in your booking notes and we will ensure to the best of our ability that everyone is masked during your appointment.

Getting to the studio:

The Studio is 450m from Broadmeadow Train Station which is described as Independant Access. It is staffed 24 hours and has wheelchair ramp boarding and lift. The area around the studio is not hilly.

There are private parking spaces available directly outside the door of FLT Tattoo. There are generally plenty available. Please let us know if you would like us to reserve one for you, just in case.
Otherwise there is generally parking on Tudor St, behind the studio as well.

Entrance and Tattooing Space:

  • There is a 6mm angled transition to the non-slip tiled entrance.
  • The front entrance is 840cm wide (or 1670mm with both doors open) with a gently sloped 2m tile ramp.
  • The waiting area is spacious with sofas and room for alternative seating.
  • Floors are level, smooth and coated with non-slip epoxy.
  • The tattooing area is completely open and the furniture in all stations is moveable, so there is plenty of space for manoeuvring.
Bathroom:
  • Our bathroom may be wheelchair accessible.
  • The room is 1.93m x 1.6m
  • The doorway is 790mm and there is a 3mm dip at the threshold.
  • Toilet height is 400mm and there are double grab bars next to it.
  • Sink height is 840mm (to the top)

Sensory and privacy:

  • Privacy: The room I tattoo in is not a private room - there are up to three other artists in the room at any given time. We do have privacy screens I can set up to screen us off. If you require more privacy, let me know and I can book you in on a quiet day.
  • Noise: There will be music playing on shared speakers. The volume and/or music itself can be altered at your discretion. Voices from other artists and clients will be audible. The tattoo machines also create mechanical noise, ranging from almost silent to very loud.
  • Smells: Sometimes, either myself or other bodies in the space may be wearing perfumes and/or scents.  Occasionally scented oils may be heated in the space. If any of this could be an issue for you for any reason, just let me know in advance and I can arrange for this to not be the case during your booking.
  • Management: I offer disposable ear plugs as the space can get quite loud at times. You are also welcome to bring your own headphones, eye coverings/sunglasses (as the bright lights can not be dimmed), earplugs, fidget/stim devices, blankets or any other items that might improve your sensory comfort.
  • Interaction/safety: I will not be offended if you prefer not to talk during the booking. Regardless of your interactive preferences, I always establish a safe word (usually: "stop") with each client before starting and check in about your anticipated capacity to use that word if necessary. If you prefer to use non-verbal cues, I am happy to negotiate these with you on the day.

If you have any privacy or sensory concerns and/or questions let me know with as much notice as possible and we can discuss how best to address your needs in the space.

Furniture:

  • Our tattooing beds are user weight recommended for a maximum of 180kg.
  • Their dimensions are 700mm wide and 1950mm long.
  • The height is adjustable.
  • We have a range of pillows and bolsters for comfort and support.
  • Please don't hesitate to contact us if you feel our current tattooing furniture will not accomodate you. We can make arrangements to source something suitable.
Allergies:
  • Latex: I generally use latex gloves for their biodegradability, but if you have a latex allergy, just let me know in the appointment form and I will make sure to have some nitrile available for you.
  • Aloe Vera: Some of our tattoo products contain this as an ingredient. These can be avoided if indicated.
  • Incense, skin tape, lidocaine, etc.: You get the idea - just let us know. :)
Anything else?

If you have any access related enquiries please email me or contact the shop and we will do our best to advise on the situation and figure out access solutions with you.
